I suffered through the following speeches at the RNC and I can tell you: "Oops, no gems here…". But to be at least a little bit balanced, here’s the list, so you can judge for yourself. If you don’t know with which to start, try the speeches from Sarah Palin, Fred Thompson or especially Rudi Giuliani (to see the Republican smear machine at it’s best).

Mike Huckabee’s speech definitely one of the best speeches of the GOP convention.But like all "better" speeches at the convention it doesn’t come without some mocking.

This is what CNN and New Yorker pundit Jeff Toobin said about John McCain’s acceptance speech at the RNC:

[...] I thought it was the worst speech by a nominee that I’ve heard since Jimmy Carter in 1980.

I thought it was disorganized, themeless, I thought it was very, very boring until the end when he started talking about his personal story, which is, of course, remarkable and always important to hear. I personally cannot remember a single policy proposal that he made because they had nothing connecting them. I found it shockingly bad.

Once again: Not exactly a gem.

Compared to the speech from Michelle Obama at the DNC, the speech from Cindy McCain at the RNC is… lame.
