J.K. Rowling: The Fringe Benefits of Failure, and the Importance of Imagination (Commencement speech at Harvard, 2008)
Steve Jobs’ commencement speech at Stanford was one of the best speeches I have seen so far. This commencement speech by Joanne K. Rowling at Harvard in 2008 is on a par.
It seems that those who experienced major setbacks in their life can deliver the best speeches to graduates.
So why do I talk about the benefits of failure? Simply because failure meant a stripping away of the inessential.
